With the first of the Cataclysm class change previews going up today, I can’t help but wallow in anticipation for the 16th when Blizzard finally posts the new information for Paladins. Our class is so awesome we need that much more time to perfect our ground shaking changes.  With the recent announcement of the Death Knight tanking tree being Blood in the expansion and some preliminary changes about Rage Normalization I am excited to see what they have cooked up for the paladins.

I don’t have too many inferences yet on where they will take us but there is some writing on the wall:

- I expect them to make changes to Hammer of the Righteous or Seal of Command and even possibly both.  I think the fact that our threat rotation is exactly the same in single target and AoE is just boring.  I look forward to this.

- The Dispel mechanics will definitely change some of how I play at least when it comes to dispelling my own magic effects like on Steelbreaker.

- I think paladins in general will get a low level instant attack ability to add to the low level experience and make it more interactive.  At least more interactive than auto-attack and judgement.

- More of a wish and inferred guess based on similar vanity shaman changes; but I suspect that the varying paladin races may get race specific mounts in Cataclysm.

The 16th will be a good day, I look forward to the new class changes being posted today!  And now some Thom Yorke to soothe your weary soul.

After E3 I have quite a few new projects I am looking forward to; three of them from Bioware; Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect 2. I am really excited about all three projects, especially Mass Effect which I have beaten about 6-8 times on the Xbox 360. I think I am most excited about Mass Effect 2 but the prospect of messing with the Aurora toolset for Dragon Age has my interest piqued as well. 2009 and 2010 will be an interesting year for gaming and my continued growth as a programmer and game designer… well one day game designer. Below the jump is the Mass Effect 2 E3 gameplay trailer; I think I have watched this trailer like 50 times and I am still not tired of it.

From what I can glean from this post in the Beta forums the Seal/Judgment system is changing in Wrath of the Lich King. A basic breakdown of the Changes:-Judgment is now broken up into three spells, Judgment of Wisdom (JoW), Judgment of Light (JoL), and Judgment of Justice (JoS).

-Now when one of those three Judgment spells is used the Judgment debuff plus Holy Damage is done based on the active seal, assuming Seal of Righteousness, Seal of Vengeance/Corruption, Seal of Blood/Martyr, and Seal of Command. The current seal still remains after the Judgment is used. Seals still last 30 seconds.

-The current seals are staying as is, though there is speculation that Seal of Wisdom, Seal of Light, and Seal of Justice may be going away.

-Seal of the Crusader is now gone and the 210 Holy Damage has been rolled into all abilities that could make use of the spell. This is a buff.

Speculation:

-Currently it seems that both the Judgment of the Seal and the Debuff are doing damage, meaning that Judgment of Wisdom causes holy damage and then the Seal Judgment also causes holy damage; I am not sure if this is intended.

-Paladin damaging spells may be affected by Attack power, just like Deathknights.

-There seems to be confusion on if our abilities are affected by both Attack Power and Spell Damage. If it is both I think this will make our abilities too good since our spell damage, assuming Tier 5+ geared protection paladin should approach 1000 spell damage in current gear with the new talents.
