Supposedly this is some kind of DS game that teaches you English… whatever it is… this promo is awesome.

I think I am going to like Warhammer Online if for nothing else the character and flavor of the game should be entertaining, although I am not sure which side I would choose. Many of my good online friends are split between both sides of Destruction and Order. On the side of Destruction I like the look of the Chaos Chosen; the style of the Black Orcs, and of course the attitude of the Blackguard. If the Blackguard can be a female Dark Elf… then Vanifae may yet live again as a Blackguard!
I have never been much for dwarves though my first paladin in World of Warcraft was a dwarf since everyone else was a human. Warhammer dwarves have much character though and I like the stunties, but th Empire Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Swordmaster have my most attention. Most likely I would choose Swordmaster though because I would like to continue Vanifae’s illustrious career.
Not that it is over any time soon… Wrath of the Lich King comes.

Well we are left with one boss in the Battle for Mount Hyjal; I didn’t get to main tank any bosses last night but I had tanked all the bosses besides Kazrogal anyway so I wasn’t all that put out. I know not huge news but for me it is great and I am glad that I may actually get close to beating all the raid content in Burning Crusade… overall I have nothing to add for other tankadins, just stay the course.
Well first off, I am not even sure this will be a regular feature but it sounds cool and since it sounds cool I might as well try to make it a regular feature even if I fail at doing so. But maybe it can be at least a weekly feature… maybe.
Just some errant thoughts I had when I started perusing the Conqueror feats and I get the feeling that this class plays like a mixture of an Enhancement Shaman/Retribution Paladin; to use a WoW analogue for easy frame of reference. The class is heavily slanted towards melee DPS and although I need to examine the feat trees more; but from a cursory glance the Carnage feat tree is two weapon focused with a smattering of movement enhancing abilities, and obviously feats that increase your hit chance with your offhand. The Brute Feat tree focuses on two hand weapons, my personal favorites, increased damage reduction, and overall damage output from two hand weapons.
I have no doubt that both trees can do substantial damage in a PvE situation but I find it curious that at the bottom of the trees in the highest tiers there are feats that increase hate versus enemies, I guess as an off-tank or backup tank role. I couldn’t see myself picking these up unless I had to especially if I am trying to fulfill a pure DPS damage dealer role, a hybrid build most likely.
But looking at other feats like Improved Furious Inspiration, Heroic Call, Legendary Heroic Call, and War Lord one can see that the Conqueror is a definite asset to any raid or group as a melee buffer and damage dealer. Of course I still don’t know a lot of particulars of Age of Conan raids, do abilities affect the whole raid or are they limited to your party; that decision will determine the role and often location of the Conqueror in a given raid. If her abilities affect the raid as a whole, then the issue comes in, do they stack; because if they do then raid buffing could get out of hand quite quickly. I am going to make the assumption at this time that they won’t stack and that the most powerful buff effect will supersede the others but I will need more info on that.
This is all conjecture at this point, but I think the Conqueror is going to be a fun and tactical class to play in PvE and PvP and will definitely be wanted in any group for the buffs they bring to damage dealers and passive healing.

Well I finally, possibly even, decided on a main. I am going to roll a Conqueror on the Doomsayer server and roll with Eventide, seem like a good bunch of people. I wasn’t hard on PvP but it should be okay and I can kill who I want when I want… so yeah.
Pictures from my early time in Age of Conan, more combat shots incoming! This game is bloody fun!

Well my opinions from launch day started off pretty negative with the preorder key debacle, but things quickly got better after I simply canceled my Gamestop preorder and just picked the game up at the Best Buy, yeah I should have known better.
My overall impression of the launch though; smooth. I had an issue initially when I tried to login for the first time; but after about three times I got in and finally got to create Vanifae for the first time. Character creation allows for a great many customizations and I really like the look for the Cimmerians with their face and body paint, very earthy looking and yet brutal. I won’t lie I made sure to make tall and curvaceous but also fierce looking as well. I originally made the character on a PvP, but I deleted her after getting to level 7 and made a Conqueror on Zug. I got her to level 10, made an Assassin to toll around with, and then deleted Vanifae again to fix her thunder thighs; and now have a Guardian at level 7 on Zug. I will probably just stay on Zug since I want to PvP on my terms and get my girlfriend and other friends to join me.
Well I decided to get up early to play some Age of Conan for the first time before work, and I find out that my account is canceled and I have been banned from the forums. I go to my Account Subscription, and sure enough it is canceled with no reason given. Pretty much the capstone on what so far looked like a really smooth launch.
I was not an Early Access member so I was really excited to bust out an hour or two of game time… but now I am just frustrated, pissed, and a little alarmed that Funcom would drop the ball like this right on launch day, between the 7 hour downtime, which started as a 4 hour downtime and this debacle, I am really leery of just how good this game could be. It does not help that info is hard to come by since I have been banned from their forums…
Hopefully Funcom fixes this issue quickly.
Edit: Turns out though not verified that this is an intended behavior of their billing system… wow this is both epic and probably the worst level of customer service I have ever seen. I hate to be dramatic but wow this puts a very bad taste in my mouth. The link may not work since you have to be registered on their forums, which takes an active game account…
At the moment pre-order accounts, which are not part of the Early Access program or have not yet registered a valid retail-key, are put into frozen status. This is because only Early Access customers and those with a registerd retail-key are actually allowed to play on the servers.
These pre-order accounts are also blocked from accessing the forums as they are only available for customers with currently active game accounts (which right now the pre-order accounts without a valid retail-key are not)
This is actually correct behaviour of the billing system. As soon as the servers have been opened for launch, these customers will have to enter a valid retail-key in order to unfreeze their accounts and get access to the game servers and the forums.
We will open read access to the forums for everybody soon. But it will always be that only customers with valid game accounts will be allowed to write posts and engage in discussions with the community.
Well Age of Conan officially launches this weekend with the head-start on Saturday and although I feel some pangs of sadness that I am not going to get in on this, I think it may be a good thing to sit back and see what happens after the dust settles. I have not decided if I will play this game let-alone which server I would go to…
I do want to satisfy my lust for digital bloodshed, Conan the Barbarian is one of my favorite films of all time, and I am a sucker for the fresh new shiny MMO; pretty much having played every big name MMO to come out since Final Fantasy XI. I even have a lifetime account to LoTRO, yeah I am that hardcore… or perhaps bored…
I want to think that Age of Conan will make a solid impression and hopefully garner a loyal and strong fan base that will still be around six months later; sure LoTRO is still kicking but the buzz on that game has dropped off immensely since the launch even with the expansion coming out in the fall.
Here is hoping Funcom has a winner in Age of Conan.
