I am leveling a new alt on Zangarmarsh, a human paladin for fun with a friend of mine. So far he is level 17 and kicking butt, although he did have a few misadventures with some gnolls in Redridge and them orcs that pounce on you. My ulterior motive is to perhaps maybe get him high enough to see just awesome Seal of vengeance is, since I have heard it is the best thing since sliced bread, and that it sucks like tar.
I had to change ventrilo providers, since my last one either blew up or went belly up either way, there service was getting spotty and I can’t have that when I need to get my raid on. Nothing meaningful today but supposedly some patch 2.4 information may be coming out this week. I sure as hell hope so.

Really, SoV isn’t that amazing. I could imagine it being good for a Holy Paladin who was tasked to DPS while he/she healed, but that’s really it.
Soloing: Most mobs don’t last long enough to even reach a stack of five, let alone enough ticks to make it more worthwhile than SoR.
Ret: SoC is the way to go for this spec.
Prot: On certain boss fights where you are consistently targeting only a single opponent it might be worthwhile (depends on your weapon speed, thus your ability to reach a stack of five and keep it there). For any boss fight where you need to alternate targets, SoR’s ability to be judged without needing any stacks on it makes it a better option.
PvP: While DoT damage is good in PvP, the fact that each stack is low damage and requires you hitting them in melee (and even then it has a chance to not connect unless you have a 3.0 speed weapon or slower) leads to it being a less than idea option for a spell-damage based PvP Paladin.
Thinking about it in comparison to Seal of Blood, I’m not sure what Blizzard was intending for Seal of Vengeance. Seal of Blood is similar to Seal of Command much like Seal of Vengeance is similar to Seal of Righteousness, but the differences for SoB are enough to justify it standing on it’s own “two feet” as it were.
Seal of Blood is good for steady damage, while Seal of Command is better for spike damage. This is compared to SoV and SoR which are both steady damage abilities.
SoB is an ability anyone can have, while SoC is a talented ability. This means that someone who has not taken points in the Ret tree (or has only taken a few) can whip on some +STR gear and use SoB to deal decent damage. SoV and SoR are both available as normal abilities, so everyone on the alliance has them full time.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, there’s my two cents on SoV.
