Words of Replicant Jesus

I am not sure how I feel about the recent, as in today, deal between Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and Flying Labs Software (FLS). On the one hand I really don’t know much about FLS but they do have a pretty kick-ass pirate game going, or at least on the proverbial paper it looks kickass. I am not sure if I will enjoy the game but I am eager for it to hit the real world and see how it fares in the MMO Sea, pun intended.

Now I am not an SOE hater, as a matter of fact I have only played one game by SOE, Everquest II and that was in beta and then for about a month right after launch. I would probably still be playing it, if my guild at the time hadn’t imploded. This in hindsight was a good thing because that group was a bunch of retarded misfits that monkeys could outwit, but I digress. I never had any problems with SOE but then again I didn’t deal with their GM’s or their Service directly.

Flying Labs I don’t know much about besides the fact they seem to be on track to create a fairly different type of MMO experience for junkies like me to sink our teeth into. I would be lying if I said I would not play the game, but the extent of which will probably be casual and only for a month or so unless my guild/friends decided to shift over to the game en masse.

But we shall see what the deal brings, though my gut tells me that this will be a good thing all around.

Plus it has fucking pirates.
